Tasting Notes:

Our 2013 Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir opens up with dark cherry aromas mingled with fresh rain scorched earth.  The fruit profile of this wine is velvet and luxurious.  Flavors of ripe cherry pie integrate with barrel notes of roasted coffee and charcoal for a complex and distinct Santa Rita Hills Experience.  The finish is long with fine silky tannin and full mouthfeel, a veritable bombshell of a Pinot, very sexy!

Winemaking Notes:

Our Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir was hand-picked by courageous vineyard crews willing to tackle the dramatic slopes of the vineyard and delivered in ½ ton picking bins. Fruit from two select blocks was de-stemmed and berry sorted into small ¾-ton bins. Commercial yeast strains were selected and introduced to the fermentation after allowing native yeast activity for five days. The bins were punched down by hand three times daily before the wine was drained, and the must basket-pressed to extract the last of the wine from beneath the skins. After settling, the wine was racked and moved gently to French barrels, of which 33% were brand new. The wine was blended and bottled after 18 months of barrel age.
