2014 Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir

48.00

Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County

Our 2014 Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir expresses inviting and expressive aromas of perfumed dark cherries mingled with fresh forest floor, typical to this coveted Central Coast appellation.  The fruit profile of this wine is soft, velvet and luxurious, while the texture is both lively and delicate on the palate.  Flavors of ripe cherry pie integrate with barrel notes of scorched earth and graphite, for a complex and distinct Santa Rita Hills Experience.  The finish is long and complex, with fine silky tannin and a full mouthfeel that supports flavors that evolve and change over time.

Winemaking Notes:

Fruit from our Radian Vineyard was hand-picked by courageous vineyard crews willing to tackle the dramatic slopes of the vineyard. Perfect Pinot Noir grapes from two select blocks were delivered in ½ ton picking bins to our sustainably certified winery, where it was de-stemmed and berry sorted into small ¾-ton bins. Our favorite commercial yeast strains were selected and introduced to the fermentation after allowing native yeast activity for five days. Fermentation bins were punched down by hand three times daily before the wine was drained, and the must basket-pressed to extract the last of the wine from beneath the skins. After settling, the wine was racked and moved gently to French oak barrels, of which 33% were brand-spanking new. The wine was blended and bottled after 18 months of barrel age.
